The Photo Brigade with Vincent Laforet

I just finished watching a great episode of The Photo Brigade's video podcast with guest Vincent Laforet. I started following Laforet's sports and photojournalism work very early in my career. If I am remembering correctly I think he may have even covered a lifeguard race for Allsport, which would later become Getty Images, that I was also covering in Atlantic City in the late 1990's. I was lucky enough to catch him speak at a NPPA Northern Short Course in 2002.

He has worked for Allsport, Getty, The New York Times. He has covered big stories like the aftermath of 9-11 in Pakistan and Hurricane Katrina. He was part of a team that won the Pulitzer for his work in Pakistan and the 9-11 aftermath. Having left the photojournalism world for greener pastures he has since started his own company. My favorite line of his from the podcast was "When is the last time you saw a photojournalist with a brand new lens, they're always beaten up, taped up..." Which gives you another idea about why, with his talent, he left the world of corporate journalism.

He has branched out into film production. Laforet has been using the newest technology, including DSLR cameras, which he was an early pioneer.
